Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using FirstSalah ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service. These terms apply to all users, including visitors, registered users, and anyone who accesses the Service.

2. Description of Service

FirstSalah is a prayer times calendar synchronization service that:

• Calculates Islamic prayer times based on your location and preferred calculation method
• Creates calendar events on your connected Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook account
• Marks prayer times as "busy" to block availability in scheduling tools
• Automatically syncs prayer times on a daily basis

The Service is designed to help Muslim professionals protect their prayer times from being scheduled over by colleagues using calendar-based scheduling tools.

3. User Accounts

To use the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information when creating your account
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
• Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account

You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account and use the Service.

4. Calendar Integration and Permissions

The Service requires access to your calendar to function. By connecting your Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook account, you authorize us to:

• Create calendar events for prayer times on your selected calendar
• Update prayer time events when times change or settings are modified
• Delete prayer time events that we created
• View your list of calendars to allow you to select which calendar to sync to

Important: We only create, update, and delete events that FirstSalah has created. We do not read, modify, or delete your existing calendar events.

5. Google API Services

FirstSalah's use of Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We only request the minimum necessary permissions and use your data solely for providing the Service.

6. User Data and Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any laws
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to the Service
• Use automated systems or software to extract data from the Service
• Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation
• Share your account credentials with others or allow others to access your account

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, features, and content, is owned by FirstSalah and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service without our written permission.

9. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with and relies on third-party services, including:

• Google Calendar API: For calendar event management
• Microsoft Graph API: For Outlook calendar event management
• AlAdhan API: For prayer time calculations
• Supabase: For data storage and authentication
• Vercel: For application hosting

Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices of these third-party services.

10. Prayer Time Accuracy

Prayer times are calculated using established Islamic calculation methods and the AlAdhan API. While we strive for accuracy, prayer times may vary slightly from your local mosque or other sources due to differences in calculation methods, location precision, or other factors. You are responsible for verifying prayer times and adjusting your settings as needed. FirstSalah is not responsible for missed prayers due to inaccurate times.

11. Service Availability

We strive to keep the Service available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPLETELY SECURE.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FIRSTSALAH AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless FirstSalah and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

15. Termination

You may terminate your account at any time by deleting your account through the Service settings. We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service at any time, without prior notice, for any reason, including if we believe you have violated these Terms.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. Calendar events created by the Service will remain on your calendar unless you delete them manually.

16. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

17. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which FirstSalah operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
